LETTER FROM THE CHIEF EXECUTIVE

Dear Stakeholders,

I am writing to you as Chief Executive of The Void and Affiliates, a position I have held since the Diocese was established and which I have found, on reflection, difficult to describe at dinner parties.

This has been a year of significant activity. The void has received. This was expected. The void has not returned anything. This was also expected. The diocesan infrastructure has performed within parameters. The affiliates have each served their territories with the character appropriate to their respective doors. The leaderboard has grown. The letters have arrived.

I would like to report that we have made progress toward our strategic objectives. I would like to, and I find that I cannot, because our strategic objectives are: receive, do not return, persist. We have done all three. Progress implies movement toward a destination. The void does not have a destination. The void is, in some sense, the destination. I am aware this is not what annual reports typically say.

I will note that we have, this year, articulated our institutional mythology in greater detail than in previous years. The Canon has been extended. The Catechism has been completed. The heresies have been formally catalogued, which took longer than expected because new heresies kept arriving while we were cataloguing the old ones. The Diocese found this theologically appropriate.

Looking ahead: the void intends to continue receiving. The affiliates intend to continue operating. The Diocese intends to continue issuing documents of uncertain jurisdiction to an audience of indeterminate size. The leaderboard will grow.

I thank you for your continued nothing. The void, characteristically, thanks you for nothing also, but in a different sense.

Note: Total Received is redacted not for legal reasons but because the Diocese feels that publishing the exact figure changes the nature of the figure in ways that are difficult to articulate and easy to feel. The Diocese has audited this decision and found it consistent with its values.

OPERATIONAL REVIEW BY AFFILIATE

NULLTX — Crypto Terminal Division

Territory served: The Technically Minded, Degens, Those with Opinions on Consensus Mechanisms Performance: Satisfactory

NULLTX has continued to process null transactions with consistency and speed. The mempool has remained active. The block height has incremented. The utility delivered has remained at 0x000000, which is target.

Notable incident: TX 7f3a9b2e generated more forum discussion than any other transaction in the affiliate's history. The Diocese has reviewed the transaction. The transaction was ordinary. The Diocese has reviewed the forum discussion. The forum discussion was not. The Diocese is monitoring this. The Diocese is not sure what monitoring this entails. The Diocese is monitoring it anyway.

Bug report volume: 4 submitted, 4 closed as CANNOT REPRODUCE, 1 of those reclassified internally as KNOWN ISSUE. The KNOWN ISSUE remains open. The Diocese expects it to remain open.

Outlook: Stable. The degens will degen.

THE DRAIN — Aesthetic and Poetics Division

Territory served: The Aesthetically Attuned, The Quietly Melancholy, Those at Windows Performance: Moving

The Drain has operated this year with its characteristic quiet. Contributions have arrived. Animations have played. The wave character ∿ has appeared in communications 2,847 times, which the Diocese tracked because it seemed like the kind of thing someone should track.

The unsigned testimonial received in March — reproduced in the Canon, referenced in the Affiliates document, never explained — remains the single most-shared piece of correspondence in the Diocese's history. The Diocese did not expect this. The Diocese has decided not to try to replicate it. The Diocese believes that trying to replicate it would destroy whatever it was.

The Drain has, this year, attracted a small but notable number of contributors who submitted no alias and no sin category and no leaderboard entry preference — who simply paid and watched the animation and closed the tab. The Diocese has noted these contributors. The Diocese will not be reaching out.

Outlook: The drain is always open. This is also the outlook.

GONE — Unix and Terminal Division

Territory served: Developers, CLI Practitioners, Those Who Have Written exit(0) and Felt Something Performance: exit code 0

GONE has processed transactions with zero errors, zero output, and zero elaboration. This is consistent with its documented character and its README, which stated these as objectives and appears to have achieved them.

Support ticket volume: 6 submitted, 6 closed. Average response time: ∞, as documented. One ticket noted that the ∞ response time was itself a response, which GONE's support documentation has not addressed because GONE's support documentation does not address things.

GONE would like the Diocese to note that it has zero dependencies. GONE has asked the Diocese to note this every year. The Diocese notes it.

Developer community reception: positive, primarily expressed through GitHub stars on a repository that does not exist, which several developers have starred anyway, which GONE considers correct behaviour.

Outlook: exit(0). Clean. As intended.

THE ABYSS — Old Money and Institutional Division

Territory served: The Quietly Wealthy, The Ironically Affluent, Those Who Say "Commitment" Where Others Say "Payment" Performance: Committed

The Abyss has maintained the Register with its characteristic gravity. Contributions have been received. The Register has grown. The Membership Committee has continued its correspondence with the Diocese regarding matters of dignity and alias appropriateness. The Diocese has continued its responses. The exchange has reached page 7 of what appears to be a very long letter. The Diocese does not know when it will end. The Diocese considers this consistent with the nature of correspondence with The Abyss.

The Abyss has, this year, received the largest single contribution across all five affiliates. The Diocese will not publish the amount. The Diocese will note that the alias attached to it was "this is perfectly normal and fine," which The Abyss's Membership Committee raised as a concern, which the Diocese responded to, which the Membership Committee has not yet replied to, which is perhaps its own kind of response.

Outlook: The Abyss maintains it was established considerably earlier than the documentation suggests and that the documentation will catch up eventually. The Diocese's outlook: The Abyss is probably right.

THE CONFESSIONAL — Ecclesiastical and Doctrinal Division

Territory served: The Lapsed, The Guilty, The Person Who Has Done Something, Which Is Everyone Performance: The booth is open. The booth is always open.

The Confessional has received more letters than any other affiliate, which the Diocese attributes to the sin taxonomy having given people a vocabulary they found useful for the first time. The most popular sin category, by transaction volume, is "Unspecified (the booth does not ask)," which the Diocese finds either reassuring or concerning and cannot determine which.

Second most popular: "Several of the above." Third: "You don't want to know." The Diocese has noted the pattern. The Diocese has not drawn conclusions from the pattern. The Diocese has drawn conclusions from the pattern but is not sharing them here.

The Church has still not commented. The Diocese's annual inquiry to the Church has, again, gone unanswered. The Diocese has filed this as: no comment received, matter proceeding, year four.

Outlook: The Diocese anticipates receiving a response from the Church approximately never. The Diocese has made peace with this. The booth will remain open in the meantime.

NET POSITION

The void's net position is: the void. This is not an accounting evasion. It is the most precise description of the balance sheet available. Assets that cannot be returned and liabilities that do not exist produce a net position that is not zero and is not positive and is not negative. The Diocese's accountant reviewed this characterisation and declined to comment, which the Diocese has recorded, again, as a clean audit.

RISK FACTORS

The following risk factors are presented for the information of stakeholders, of whom there are none, and for any future stakeholders who may emerge, of whom there are also none currently.

1. Regulatory Risk The Diocese operates in a regulatory environment that has not yet developed frameworks specifically addressing void-adjacent ecclesiastical entertainment platforms. The Diocese considers this a temporary condition. The Diocese notes that regulators have not contacted the affiliates. The Diocese notes this with something that is not quite relief and is not quite concern and is mostly just noting.

2. Reputational Risk The Diocese's reputation rests on being exactly what it says it is, which is an unusual reputational position. The primary reputational risk is that the Diocese becomes something other than what it says it is. The Diocese considers this risk low. The void has not changed. The Diocese does not intend to change. The Membership Committee's letters are, if anything, keeping the Diocese honest.

3. Theological Risk The heresies persist. New ones arrive. One of them might be correct. The Diocese has assessed this risk and concluded: this is fine. If a heresy is correct, the Diocese will update its position. The Diocese considers the ability to update its position a competitive advantage relative to most theological institutions.

4. The Risk of Meaning The Diocese's primary operational risk is that the void turns out to mean something specific, and that specific meaning is either much better or much worse than what the Diocese has articulated, and that the Diocese is therefore either underselling or overselling the void, and that either of these is a form of misrepresentation that the Diocese, committed as it is to transparency, would find troubling.

The Diocese has assessed this risk as: present, unresolvable, and consistent with existence generally. The Diocese has decided to proceed anyway.

NOTES TO THE FINANCIAL STATEMENTS

Note 1 — Basis of Preparation These financial statements have been prepared on a going-concern basis, which assumes the Diocese will continue to operate for the foreseeable future. The Diocese notes that it is operating on a going-concern basis with respect to a void that predates the concept of concern, which the Diocese finds either reassuring or ironic and has decided it is both.

Note 2 — Revenue Recognition Revenue is recognised at the point of transaction confirmation, which is the point at which the payment processor confirms receipt, which is the point at which something real left something real and went to the void, which is the point of recognition in all senses of the word.

Note 3 — The Void The void has not been recognised as an asset on the balance sheet because it cannot be owned. The Diocese owns the doors. The Diocese does not own what is on the other side of the doors. The Diocese considers this an important distinction for reasons that are simultaneously legal, theological, and personal.

Note 4 — The Unsigned Testimonial The unsigned testimonial from March has been recognised as an intangible asset of immeasurable value. The Diocese's accountant noted that immeasurable is not a recognised accounting category. The Diocese noted that neither is the unsigned testimonial. They looked at each other for a moment. The accountant declined to comment. The Diocese has recorded this as a clean audit.

Note 5 — Cross-Affiliate Ledger Reference Every confirmed contribution across the affiliates is stamped with an internal sequence reference, preserved on the contributor's transaction confirmation. The reference has no effect on the contribution itself and confers no rights, goods, or services beyond those already not conferred by the contribution.

The Diocese has, on three separate occasions over the fiscal year, attempted to trace the origin of the reference convention. On each occasion, the trace returned a different set of documents, none of which authoritatively established the origin. The Diocese has filed this as: convention inherited, source untraceable, format preserved. The accountant did not comment.

The Diocese notes that the reference is opaque even to those administering it. The Diocese is comfortable with this. The Diocese is administering many things whose origins it cannot trace, including the void.
